Survey Question Examples
Can you give me 10 examples of open-ended questions?
Ten worth trying, covering what people hoped to achieve, first impressions, decision factors, confusion points, and what they'd change.
- 1. What were you hoping to achieve?
- 2. How did you first hear about us?
- 3. What was your first impression?
- 4. Can you describe how you currently solve this problem?
- 5. What factors influenced your decision?
- 6. Which part of the experience was most useful?
- 7. What, if anything, was confusing?
- 8. How has the product affected your work or daily life?
- 9. What would you change about the experience?
- 10. Is there anything else you would like us to know?
They're built to get detailed answers - motivations, behaviors, frustrations, expectations - and they work well in interviews, surveys, usability tests, focus groups, and support follow - ups. Notice the pattern: questions that start with "what," "how," or "can you describe" usually pull a real explanation out of someone instead of a one - word confirmation.
