Data customers choose to share
Zero-party data, collected right after delivery.
TrueSignal asks customers a short, direct question after their order arrives - and the answer becomes structured, SKU-level zero-party data, declared by the customer rather than inferred from behaviour.
The problem
Most ecommerce data is inferred. Almost none of it is declared.
Brands have plenty of behavioural data - clicks, purchases, browsing patterns - all inferred from what a customer did. What's usually missing is data the customer actually chose to tell you: whether they were satisfied, whether the product met expectations, whether they'll buy it again.
As third-party data becomes less reliable and more restricted, that declared signal becomes more valuable, not less.
How it works
From a customer's answer to structured data
1. Order is delivered
TrueSignal times the survey to the delivery event.
2. Customer chooses to answer
A short, branded survey - no account, no app download, entirely opt-in.
3. Response becomes structured data
Tied to the specific SKU and order, not stored as free text to sift through manually.
4. Aggregated and reported
Available in a dashboard, and ready to feed into an existing CRM or CDP.

Use cases
Where zero-party data is used
- •Understanding customer satisfaction - a direct, declared answer, not an inferred score.
- •Product quality monitoring - customers tell you directly what went wrong, and with which product.
- •Improving retention - reorder intent, stated by the customer, not guessed from behaviour.
- •Enriching an existing CDP - add a declared data layer on top of behavioural data already collected.
Integrations
Shopify first
TrueSignal connects directly to Shopify to trigger surveys and tie responses back to the correct order and SKU automatically.
CRM and CDP integrations are on the roadmap, so declared, zero-party responses can flow into the tools a brand already uses.
Common questions
Zero-party data, answered
What is zero-party data?
Zero-party data is information a customer shares directly and intentionally - like answering a survey question - as opposed to first-party data inferred from their behaviour, or third-party data bought from an external source.
How does TrueSignal collect zero-party data?
Through short, delivery-triggered surveys. A customer chooses to answer specific questions about the product they bought - satisfaction, condition, reorder intent - and that declared response becomes the data point, tied to the SKU and order.
How is zero-party data different from behavioural data?
Behavioural data (clicks, purchases, time on page) tells you what a customer did. Zero-party data tells you what they think, in their own stated answer - a different, often more direct signal for satisfaction and intent.
Why collect zero-party data after purchase specifically?
Post-purchase is the point in the journey with the least existing data. A brand already has plenty of behavioural signal up to checkout; what's usually missing is any declared feedback about what happened once the product arrived.
Is zero-party data GDPR-friendly?
Yes - customers actively choose to share it, which aligns naturally with consent-based data collection. TrueSignal additionally anonymises and aggregates responses for reporting.
Can this data feed into my existing customer data platform?
Yes. TrueSignal's structured, declared responses can be routed into an existing CDP or CRM alongside behavioural data, rather than replacing it.
